On January 16th at 6pm only, Author Lana Gates will be promoting and signing her new book, “Help! I’m a Science Project” at Ironwood Cancer and Research Centers in Chandler. Many people view cancer as a death sentence. Lana used to be among them. But after watching her two sisters battle breast cancer before it took their lives, she discovered cancer is something quite different: a life sentence. It’s a wake-up call to live each new day to its fullest.
Five years after losing her second sister, Lana was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer and had to make an important decision: Would she meet each new day with vigor, or would she succumb to depression and self-pity?
Lana speaks from the heart as she transparently details her breast cancer journey from diagnosis and bilateral mastectomy to chemotherapy, radiation, and breast reconstruction. Through it all, she never lost her sense of humor, which you’ll find sprinkled throughout the story, along with actual journal entries. In addition, readers will find hope and encouragement that with faith in God, plus supportive family and friends, you can overcome.
