The American Cancer Society estimates more than 250,000 women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in 2017. Up to one-third of patients with early-stage breast cancer will subsequently develop metastatic disease. Because there is no cure for metastatic breast cancer, women living with the disease may be on treatment for the rest of their lives.
Recently, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved a new treatment for women with metastatic breast cancer. Ironwood Cancer and Research Centers located in Arizona participated in the clinical trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of this new treatment.
