Amikar Sehdev, MD, MPH, FACP is a board-certified medical oncologist and hematologist who has been practicing medicine for over 10 years. He received his medical degree from the Government Medical College and Hospital in Chandigarh, India where he was a National Merit Scholarship recipient. He completed his residency at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago, and his fellowship at the renowned University of Chicago. Dr. Sehdev also has a master’s degree in public health with specialization in health promotion.
Before joining Ironwood Cancer Research Centers, Dr. Sehdev has worked at Indiana University. During this time, he participated in many clinical research trials as the principal investigator and served in leadership roles. He has authored many publications in high-impact scientific journals and has presented his findings at ASCO meetings. He has served as a nominated panel member for writing the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) clinical practice guidelines for malignant melanoma. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of the ASCO, the American Society of Hematology, and the American Medical Association.
Dr. Sehdev specializes in gastrointestinal and skin malignancies as well as sarcomas and hematologic disorders. He is at present an investigator in research trials. His practice philosophy is to develop a high-quality individualized care plan by compassionately listening to his patients and integrating a team-based approach for the best outcomes.
Dr. Sehdev is actively involved in the education of medical students and residents Midwestern University and serves as extended faculty. Aside from medicine, he enjoys running, reading, photography, playing chess and spending time with his family.
