Dr. Kantala is a board-certified Hematologist and Medical Oncologist who joined Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers in 2009. Dr. Kantala earned his medical degree from the Mahatma Gandhi Medical College in India. He completed residency training in Internal Medicine at the Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA and completed a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.
Dr. Kantala’ s priority is to practice evidence-based medicine and cancer therapy. He believes in an integrated treatment approach which looks out for best interests of his patients. He strives to personalize treatment for his patients and educate them, so they are a part of the treatment planning and decision-making process.
Dr. Kantala specializes in gastrointestinal malignancies and hematologic disorders. He keeps up to date by staying active and involved in the professional community, by attending meetings and reading journals. He is currently involved in the education of medical students and residents he is an Assistant Professor at Mt Vista, Steward health and mentors students from AT Still, Kirksville college of osteopathic medicine, Missouri and Midwestern University, Glendale , AZ. He is at present an investigator in research trials. He has been selected by his professional peers as a Top Doc in PHOENIX Magazine. He enjoys spending time with his family. His interests include sports mainly tennis and traveling.
