Dr. Victor Chiu joined Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers in 2022. He understands the importance of creating a personalized care plan for each patient, which may include molecularly targeted therapies, immunotherapy, or other new therapies in clinical trials. He specializes in the treatment of breast, skin and sarcoma malignancies and hematologic disorders.
Dr. Chiu obtained his undergraduate degree with dual majors in Public Health and Immunology from University of California, Berkeley. He completed medical school at University of California, Davis where he was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. He went on to complete internal medicine residency at UCLA-Olive View Medical Center (UCLA-OVMC), where he won the award for most outstanding resident in each year of training and was chosen to serve as Chief Resident. He completed hematology and oncology fellowship at LAC-USC and USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, where he also served as Chief Fellow and Phase I Clinical Trial Fellow. He then joined UCLA’s Division of Hematology/Oncology as Health Sciences Assistant Clinical Professor and served as the Director of Oncology Research at UCLA- OVMC.
Dr. Chiu’s research has been presented at national meetings for the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Hematology, and Society of General Internal Medicine. He has been an investigator in several therapeutic clinical trials across the spectrum of cancer and blood disorders. Dr. Chiu is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the Arizona Clinical Oncology Society. He serves as a peer reviewer for the journal JCO Oncology Practice. He is at present an investigator in research trials
Outside of work, Dr. Chiu enjoys playing basketball with his son, dancing with his daughter, and trying new recipes with his wife.
